Did you know that your smart phone (IPhones and Androids) is equipped
to offer you the perfect marketing tool for free! Intrigued yet? For
those of you that have not yet been introduced to the Facebook “Places�?
here is a step-by-step guide to open the door to a whole new side of
gamification marketing.
Rules for the Road-
1. Only those of you technological savvy IPhone or Android phone owners
can access this via the Facebook app. For those without one, today is
your lucky day. You can simply just go to www.touch.facebook.com.
2. From here tap the “Places�? image.
3. Specify your location. For this to be at all possible, make sure you have your settings on locate location
4. Check in. You will become very familiar with this saying after
engaging in Places. Checking in, to put simply is the act of sharing
your location at that moment in time with your Facebook world. After
checking up make sure you update status for all to see.
5. A quick tip just because I like ya’ll- you can tag friends you are
with and they will be automatically checked in also which is great for
the obvious reason of more people seeing your business and who is there.
6. Looking for a stalker? Probably not. Make sure your privacy setting
is not set to “everyone�? otherwise you may or may not be asking for a
stalker in the near future and then there will be no one to blame but
yourself.
You are probably asking yourself how to create your Place now that
you have seen what a great tool it can be for you. I’ll share this
nugget of information with you also!
1. First thing is first you must claim your Place. Claiming your
Place will give you the power to edit information pertaining to your
business Place and create a profile of more information if you so
desire.
2. Visit your place. This obviously not the only time you will visit
your Place, unless you don’t go to work. Slacker. Once you visit your
Place you will have the chance to verify authorization. This is to weed
out the fakers that want to create a fake Places, scoundrels! Here you
will be asked to fill out required fields or present them with a bill
stating the same.
3. Congratulations you are now an admin of your Place!
4. It’s time to merge Places with Pages- if you have a Facebook page for
your business already it will ask you to merge it- go ahead and do so.
Now you have two P’s in a pod! Twice the exposure.
5. Advertise- tell people about your Facebook Place the same way as a Facebook advertisement but make sure you chose Place.
6. Make a deal! Visit again and tap create a deal button, fill out the
form, make it interesting to lure the visitors when they check in.
